As I write this latest posting we have just experienced
the hottest day of the year and all is looking set fair for a lovely summer
holiday for everyone – do hope that isn’t a case of ‘famous last words’! We wish everyone reading this an enjoyable
and safe summer, and for those involved in our schools, a well-earned rest!

During the last term it was our great privilege to join
with thousands of other people with a heart for the children of our nation by celebrating
‘Pray for Schools Fortnight’. This is an annual event, celebrated nationally
under the directive of Pray for Schools ( The vision of ‘Pray for Schools Fortnight’ is
to bring together people from local churches and others involved in education –
parents, students, teachers, governors, staff and volunteers – to pray
strategically for schools in their area and those involved in them.

This year the fortnight ran from 8th – 20th
May, the theme being ‘Freedom’, taking the verse from 2 Corinthians 3 v 17: “For the Lord is the Spirit and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is
there is freedom!”
As a Schools
Prayer Group we wanted to encourage those we pray for by our prayers and also
through words of encouragement which we e-mailed through to them during the fortnight. In addition, over the fortnight we took a
plant and card to all of the nurseries, playgroups, schools and school-related
organisations we pray for. As well as blessing them it blessed us to
receive their gratitude and have the opportunity to build on our relationship
with each one. We received some very
positive and encouraging responses:

College: Thank you. Very much needed! We do appreciate
your support and prayers for our school community.
